There is no better place in Australia to get the adrenaline pumping through your veins! And forget the stereotypes – there are adrenaline-packed adventures awaiting visitors of all ages.
On land you can opt for world-class mountain bike trails, ATV quad bike experiences, or classic horse riding through either forest trails or on the beach for that ultimate holiday photo.
Take to the hills and cliffs with abseiling, cliff jumping, rock sliding, or combine these activities with a trek through the rainforest. After you’ve checked off that list, simply rely on your own two feet and challenge yourself to the 922-metre Walsh’s Pyramid climb.
Get your feet off the ground on a zipline over crocodiles at Cairns Wildlife Dome at the top of the Cairns Reef Casino.
The ropes and different runs mean this is fun for the whole family, regardless of ability – or courage – levels.
You can also head out into nature and take to the Jungle Surfing Canopy Tour, a guided zipline journey through the ancient Daintree Rainforest.
Swing through the Jungle
If you are still eager to get even higher off the ground, you can’t miss skydiving over Mission Beach, or hot air ballooning over the Atherton Tableland.
Take in the scenery on a Hot Air Balloon Tour
Finally, there are few faster ways up and down than trying the iconic bungy jumping. Embrace a sense of adventure and head to AJ Hackett Bungy which is nestled in the rainforest. Thrill seekers aged 10 years and over can do the Bungy Jump, but the whole family can experience the Giant Jungle Swing that can take 1, 2, or 3 people. There is free entry to the tower climb and lookout, cafe facilities on-site, and live music on Sunday afternoons.
Thrill-seeking isn’t limited to dry land. Go white water rafting down the rapids, or head for calmer waters to do scuba diving. If diving is not your thing, simply take a casual walk on the reef floor with Seawalker helmets.
Back on the water’s surface, choose from high speed boats or jet skis, cruises through crocodile waters, or do more sedate paddle boarding. Above the water’s surface you can even try out heli-fishing to access remote and amazing fishing spots.
